About us

Casa Niwa was born from a vision to create a peaceful retreat amidst the vibrant rhythm of Santa Marta’s historic center. Inspired by the wisdom and traditions of the Kogui people, an Indigenous community from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the name "Niwa" means "lagoon" in their language—representing peace, renewal, and a deep connection with nature.

Nestled in Casa del Río, a modern building with colonial touches designed by renowned architect Álvaro Barrera, Casa Niwa perfectly blends contemporary comfort with the charm of local heritage. The space is thoughtfully designed to provide a serene atmosphere, making it an ideal place to relax and unwind.

Located just steps from the Malecón and Parque de los Novios, Casa Niwa offers easy access to the best of Santa Marta—its rich cultural history, the pristine beaches of Tayrona National Park, and the stunning landscapes of the Sierra Nevada.
